Satriya

The dance ‘Satriya’ has its origin in the Island of Majuli, one of the biggest riverine islands in the world, situated in the middle of the mighty Brahmaputra River in Assam. The name ‘Satriya’ is derived from ‘Satra’ which means the monastery of the Vaishnavite sect. Satriya represents the cultural and traditional vibes of the Majuli islanders.

Let Anita Sharma introduce you to the scion of classical dances in India, which is simple yet elegant. Anita is one of Guru Jatin Goswami’s senior most disciples, and has emerged as one of the frontline exponents of Satriya.
