About the Programme

The resonating yet captivating beat of the percussion instrument, Mizhavu, gives rhythm and strikes the right mood for actors to express their body language and facial expressions. Mizhavu is an integral part of Koothu and Kutiyattam, the millennia old performing art forms of Kerala. The video titled Melam features a rare ensemble of Mizhavu with two other percussion instruments viz. Thimila and Edakka. Both Thimila and Edakka are part of Panchavadyam, the traditional orchestra of Kerala. These videos are available in SD quality only.
