He was an ardent musician of both systems of Indian classical music, Hindustani and Carnatic. He is credited with composing over 400 songs in Carnatic music as well as Hindustani music. Some of his favourite compositions are Padmanabha Pahi, Deva Deva, Sarasijanabha and Sree Ramana Vibho.
